Lesson 15.1

 

Warm-Up 15.1:  

     Think back to your childhood to a time when you were most frighten of a monster/scary story.  Write a 3 - 5 sentence description of your monster and draw a picture of said monster.

  • Introduce the "Mothman" research project
  • Provide argumentative essay questions for students to copy in their comp books
  • Read "Couples See Man-Sized Bird . . . Creature . . . Something"
  • Provide K-W-L like organizer for students to write a summary and their opinions

     Write five sentences, underline all nouns, circle all pronouns.  Topic must be school appropriate.

  • Read the news article "That Mothman: Would You Believe A Sandhill Crane?"
  • Students complete a K-W-L for summarizing the article and explain their thoughts on the article

  • Students are to work on an Annotated Bibliography for their essay on the Mothman 
  • Students write an argumentative essay describing their stance on whether or not the Mothman is real

Closure 15.5:

     Staple homework and warm-ups together, put your name, date, and class period on both sides of every sheet.  Turn sheets into your class section.
