Lesson 3.1

 

Warm-Up 3.1:  

     How did you spend your weekend?  Write a 3 frame comic, with a sentence describing each frame, or write a 5 - 7 sentence paragraph.

 

Classwork 3.1:

     Take Notes:

  • Simple Sentences

    • Run-ons 

 

Homework 3.1:

     Write five simple sentences about vacation spots.

 

Lesson 3.2

 

Warm-Up 3.2:  

     Write 6 simple sentences: three about making food, three about zombies.

    • Nor

    • Or
    • Yet
    • So 

 

Homework 3.2:

     Write five compound sentences.  Topic must be school appropriate.

 

 

Lesson 3.3

 

Warm-Up 3.3:

     Write a paragraph about the time your hamster was kidnapped, use only compound sentences with FANBOYS.  Must be 5 - 7 sentences.

Homework 3.3:

     Write five sentences with semicolons used correctly.

 

 

 

Lesson 3.4

 

Warm-Up 3.4:  

     Which do you like better, compound sentences with FANBOYS or compound sentences with semicolons.  Why can't you use both?  Write 5 - 7 sentences.

 

Classwork 3.4:

     Take Notes:

  • Complex Sentences
  • Prepositional Phrases 

 

Homework 3.4:

     Write five sentences, include and circle a preposition in each.

 

 

Lesson 3.5

 

Warm-Up 3.5:  

     Invent a superhero.  Describe them in a compound sentence, a complex sentence, and draw them.

 

Exam 3.5:

     Take Notes:

  • Super Sentences

 

     Play collaborative writing game (with sentence variation).

 

Closure 3.5:

     Staple homework and warm-ups together, put your name, date, and class period on both sides of every sheet.  Turn sheets into your class section.
